Natural Winter Wonder Remedies for Dry Skin

During Winter some people experience dry, chapped and flaky skin. For some of us this happens all year round *sigh* and in Winter it can get worse.  But fear not fellow dry skin sufferers there are plenty of natural remedies that you can try. Chances are you’ll already have them in your kitchen cupboard too!

Although dry skin and skin flare ups can’t be completely avoided, there are natural ingredients that you can use to help soothe your skin. Even when you’re not having a bad dry skin day STILL use your natural remedies and hopefully you will start to see the difference in your skin.

The below six ingredients can be used all over your body AND you can apply it to your hair as a conditioner. Win-win!

Aloe Vera

This plant is an antioxidant and has antibacterial properties. It holds bacteria-fighting and soothing ingredients which reduce inflammation, itching and cracked skin. You can buy aloe vera gel and creams from places like Holland & Barrett’s but the best option is to buy an actual plant for pure aloe vera.

Coconut Oil

This oil has so many health benefits in general and many people cook with it too. When it comes to your skin it’s amazing and is a great treatment for even really harsh dry skin. The saturated fats in this oil provide deep, long-lasting moisture and help keep your skin soft.

Raw Honey

This delicious delight doesn’t just taste good but is also good for your skin! It’s filled with antioxidants and a wide array of vitamins, minerals and ammo acids. If you’ve got any acne marks or scars, then raw honey is brilliant to use. It’s regarded as the ultimate moisturiser and will leave your skin baby soft.

Olive Oil

This kitchen staple is bursting with Vitamin E & A. It’s packed with anti-aging antioxidants and hydrates the skin. Be sure to gently pat your skin with a paper towel to wipe away any excess oil after you apply it.

Avocado

Make an avocado face mask twice a week to help keep your skin soft during winter. Mash the avocado up, add a teaspoon of hot water and a teaspoon of honey. Mix it all up, apply to your face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash it off gently with warm water and voila!

Shea Butter

This gives you an instant moisture boost for cracked, dry skin. It quenches your thirsty skin with even the smallest amount. Keep a little tub in your bag during winter. Whenever you wash your hands be sure to rub some on after to keep them hydrated.
