Review: YSL All Hours Foundation and Souffle D’Eclat

Yves Saint Laurent All Hours foundation and Souffle D’Eclat loose powder is a beauty combo we’ve been wanting to try for a while. Now that we have, here’s what we think…

Foundation is arguably the most important part of your makeup routine. The wrong foundation for your skin type basically makes or breaks your whole look.

This YSL All Hours foundation is £35.00 and comes in 22 shades and is described on their website as: “Own the night and the day with a matte foundation for a flawless complexion, which stays put for up to 24 hours. A rich level of fine pigments means full coverage with a flawless, even finish, without a mask-like effect. The high coverage foundation’s innovative formula is waterproof and transfer-resistant, with no compromise on comfort and no need to touch up.”

First of all let’s just appreciate the stunning packaging, this foundation comes in a glass, frosted bottle with the YSL logo embossed into the lid. It’s pretty special.

Three pumps of foundation is more than enough to cover all your face, it has a creamy texture when first applied and blends out really easily and nicely. You can build the foundation for a full coverage look and it has a satin matte finish and smells gorgeous.

You can apply it with a brush or a sponge; it works beautifully with any beauty tool. However, does it last for 24 hours though as described by YSL itself? Well…

We’d be lying if we said we’ve tested it for 24 hours because we need to sleep you know so it gets washed off. But the longest we’ve worn it is nearly 15 hours and we can reveal it literally looks a good as it did in the morning.

The only negative thing we’ve noticed is after a while you can get them pesky lines near the sides of you mouth, (Maybe we smile/laugh too much.) BUT whenever this happens just use a mini beauty blender to dap the lines away.

YSL’s loose powder Souffle D’Eclat is £39.00 and comes in four shades and is described on the website as: “From the first application, skin’s beauty is highlighted in a luminous veil. The formula enhances your complexion’s natural radiance, sets and perfects make-up, delivering an even finish.”

This loose powder is incredibly finely milled and has a gorgeous velvety feel to it. All you need is a light dusting with a nice big powder brush and you’re good to go.

If you have dry skin then you’ll be happy to read that this Souffle D’Eclat DOES NOT dry your skin out! It has a lovely light texture to it with a luminous finish and unlike some other powders it won’t make your skin feel drier.

The powder doesn’t just feel luxurious on your skin but it also looks it, in it’s fancy af packaging. It comes in a chic clear jar, with a gold twist lid and a small powder puff that sits on top of the powder sifter. Super cute.

Final Thoughts ~

Both the YSL foundation and Souffle D’Eclat loose powder are keepers for sure. After consistent use of both products for over two months it’s safe to say that they work very well together. They are a perfect match to help you achieve that full-on flawless glow without feeling heavy on your skin. To buy both it’ll cost you £74.00 which is pretty pricy however the foundation will last you for at least 3 months (depending on how much you use of course) and the loose powder will last you a lot longer than that. It’s been over two months since we opened the powder and it still looks full!

Are there any beauty products that you think work well as a pair? Lets us know in the comments.
